Membership to the SIMD is open to individuals with a demonstrated professional commitment to research and treatment of inherited disorders of metabolism.  Affiliate memberships are available for both physician trainees and professionals in other areas with complementary activities or special interests in metabolic disorders.  Applicants, supported by at least two recommendations from the SIMD membership, should communicate directly with the Membership Chair of the SIMD.

The following membership fee categories (adjusted, 2008) are available: 

• With annual subscription to Molecular Genetics and Metabolism, the official journal of the SIMD: 

  • Regular Member excluding trainees - $170

  • Non-Doctoral Member - $95

  • Trainee - $95 (up to 3 years)

  • Developing Nation Member - $95 

• Without journal subscription: 

  • Developing Nation Trainee - $25 (up to 3 years). 

To apply for membership, (1) complete the Application Form to fax or mail, or send the corresponding information to the Membership Chair, with (2) a copy of your Curriculum Vitae and (3) the names and addresses of two references who will be contacted by the Membership Chair.  Applicant will be notified when all application materials have been received, and when there are results of membership decisions (quarterly).   Please do not send dues payment with application.
